ACTING ANONYMOUS TEEN TROUPE
OF CENTER STAGE

WHAT IS IT?:

ACTING ANONYMOUS (more affectionately known as “AA”) began back in 2001 when a group of teens from Center Stage wanted to do more than the two children’s plays each year. With board approval, we started the first year by helping at the theater, offering learning sessions in costume, lighting, direction, and acting, and originated our annual “Thriller” performances with the help of Jennifer Krohn as choreographer.

The following year we added “Reader’s Theater” performances at local Boys and Girls Clubs and then went on to joining other high school-aged groups in festival competition at the Mississippi Theater Association’s annual high school drama festivals. As local high schools began to incorporate drama in the curriculum, our troupe has slimmed down, but we still offer a great opportunity for teens to participate in theater.

ACTING ANONYMOUS is open to any student aged 13 through high school graduation. It is a “teen” troupe, therefore the age restrictions are pretty much set in stone. There are no participation fees, but commitment is expected from the members. Each year brings new surprises, and we never know what we will add next!

Join us at the next meeting to see how you can benefit from our troupe. We have actors, techies, and involved parents, and we look forward to you being a part of the ACT!

WHO’S IN CHARGE?:

AMY CARTER is a former teacher from Ocean Springs. She has been involved with Center Stage since 1993 when her own children began to participate in the children’s productions. The following year, she became the resident stage manager for the children’s productions. In 1999, she became involved in stage managing adult productions, and in 2001, Amy lost her mind and formed Acting Anonymous.

Since that time, MS A or ADMA (the absolutely divine MS Amy) has worked together with actors and parents to provide a quality acting and educational experience to the teens involved. She has now directed four competition plays:

2005 All I Need to Learn, I Learned in Kindergarten
2006 Oh, What a Tangled Web
2007 Greenfield Blooms
2008 The Bible in 40 Minutes…or Less

Because of her total dedication to the troupe, the only thing required of her actors and techies is total commitment. There are no fees to participate. Everyone is expected to help with costumes and props when they are not available at Center Stage and to bring food when there are parties (as often as possible!). Otherwise, Ms. A’s desire is to provide an experience that will enhance acting skills as well as give all involved a great time.
