South Pacific
Set on a tropical island during World War II, South Pacific tells the sweeping romantic story of two couples — Nellie Forbush and French plantation owner Emile de Becque, and Navy Airman Joe Cable and a young local native girl Liat. Considered by many the finest musical ever written, the score’s songs include such musical theatre classics as “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” “Bloody Mary’” and “There is Nothin’ Like A Dame.”

SOUTH PACIFIC CAST LIST ANNOUNCED!


Nellie Forbush - Kate Fleming


Kate Fleming has been hailed as “one of today’s promising young voices.” While earning her Bachelor of Music at Loyola University New Orleans, she entertained sold-out audiences as the title role in Lakmé and Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. Ms. Fleming graduated summa cum laude in 2005, the year of her professional debut with New Orleans Opera as Sylviane in The Merry Widow. Other roles include Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Peabody Opera Theater, Sophie in a concertized version of Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel at Opera in the Ozarks, and Adele (Die Fledermaus) in the 2007 AIMS Opernabend Konzert in Frohnleiten, Austria. Ms. Fleming lives in Ocean Springs, MS.

Emile de Becque - Mike Lacy


Mike Lacy is a Gulf Coast native who has appeared in several Center Stage productions including: Linus in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, John in Summer and Smoke, Billy in Anything Goes, and Clifton Feddington in 1940s Radio Hour. His lists his favorite role a Tony in West Side Story. Other performances include: Fredrik Egerman in A Little Night Music, Danny Zuko in Grease, Billy Bigelow in Carousel, Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls, and The Baker in Into the Woods. Mike is a special project coordinator for the Sun Herald as well as a writer and editor with Beach Blvd. magazine. He also serves as a writer and actor with Medlock Productions, a dinner theatre company on the Coast. He has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and a Master's in Communication. Mike is a devoted fan of "all things Southern Miss" and lives with his wife Carol and son Blake in Gulfport, MS.

Lt. Joseph Cable - Sean Harding


Sean is overjoyed to be playing the part of Lt. Joseph Cable in Center Stage's performance of South Pacific. He currently attends The University of Southern Mississippi and is double-majoring in Voice and Violin Performance. Some of Sean's previous roles include: The King in The Little Prince, Slave/Priest in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Radames inAIDA, Russel/Narrator in A Place by the River, and many others. He'd like to thank David Delk for giving him this opportunity and also his parents, Phillip and Christian, for the inspiration and support they have given him. Additionally, he thanks you all for coming to the show! "Smile, it increases your face value".

Luther Billis - Ryan Pierini


Ryan is no stranger to theatre. Having appeared most recently as Charlene and Stanley Bumiller in Center Stage's production of Red White and Tuna, Ryan has also been in Lend Me a Tenor, Chicago, The Lady from Maxim's, On Golden Pond, Shakespeare in Hollywood, Chapter Two, Anything Goes, A Thousand Clowns, and Our Town but lists his favorite role as The Man in the Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone. Ryan holds a Master's of Fine Arts and is the Chair of the Fine Arts department at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Ryan lives in Gulfport, MS.

Bloody Mary - Mary Jackson


Mary Jackson is a Gulfport native who has appeared in two Center Stage productions; Trix in The Drowsy Chaperone and Mildred in Dividing the Estate. Other roles include: Benetha in Raising the Sun, and The Angel in Cotton Patch Gospel. She's had many good roles but believes this role will be her favorite. Mary enjoys singing and has the history to prove it. She has been a member of the Keesler AFB Gospel Choir, Jeff Davis Concert Choir, Alcorn State Concert Choir, and the Gulfport East Concert Choir and Madrigals. She currently works in the Banquet department for the Gulf Coast Coliseum and lives in Gulfport, MS with her husband Kelvin. The couple have 4 sons and 3 grandchildren..

Bloody Mary's Assistant - Kelsey Hymel


Having appeared in many children's play, Kelsey is excited to be in her first adult play at Center Stage. Previous roles include: The Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland, Sister Pierson in Tom Sawyer, Mama in Beauty and the Beast and Aunt March in Little Women. So far, Kelsey's favorite role has been as the Genie of the Lamp in Aladdin. Her other roles include: Gymnasia in A Funny Thing that Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Chief Wooden Nickel in Dealt a Deadly Hand. Kelsey will be Junior at St. Patrick Catholic School this year. She is the student council Vice President and a member of the robotics team. Kelsey lives with her family in Biloxi, MS. Her father, Wade Hymel, is also appearing in South Pacific.

Liat - Rekeia Gallien


This will be Rekeia's first performance at Center Stage. Previously, she played Lola in Dealt a Deadly Hand. She is currently a student at Southern University at Baton Rouge on a soccer and academic scholarship. She is enrolled in their honors program. Rekeia was born in Lajes, Portugal but now resides in Biloxi with her parents Jules and Konya Gallien and her sister Rekeisha.

Ngana - Marina Smith


Marina will be appearing in her first Center Stage performance with South Pacific. Other roles include The Flying Monkey in The Wiz and, her favorite, Maya in The Jolly Mon. Marina just finished 5th grade at Anniston elementary. She enjoys horseback riding, soccer, swimming, drawing, painting, and sewing. Marina lives in Gulfport, MS with her parents, Dalton and Shellie Smith, and her horse Peanut and dog Molly.

Jerome - Kaleb Heidelberg


This will be Kaleb's first appearance at Center Stage Theatre. Previous roles include: The Herald in Cinderella, Munchkin in The Wiz, and Sanka in The Jolly Mon. Kaleb enjoys singing, dancing, and playing the drums. He lives with his parents, Archie and Venesa Heidelberg, in Ocean Springs, MS.

Henry - DeAngelo Wynn

Professor - Bill Sumrall


Bill is no stranger to Center Stage, having previously appeared as Axel Hammond in The Nerd, Professor Metzkov in The Man Who Came to Dinner, and Bradley in Black Comedy. Other roles include: Paul in Barefoot in the Park, and Jekyl/Hyde in The Strange Adventures of Jekyl and Hyde. He lists his favorite role as Andrew Ralley in I Hate Hamlet. Bill holds a Bachelor's degree in Acting/Directing from USM. He lives in Gulfport, MS.

Capt. George Bracket - Leo Ridge


Leo will be appearing at Center Stage for the first time during South Pacific. Previous roles include: Zoltan in My Fair Lady and Guido in An O. Henry Christmas. His favorite role is Papa in The Jolly Mon. Leo holds a Bachelor's degree in radio, TV and film from the University of Southern Mississippi and currently works as an advertising consultant fro WLOX. His enjoys photography and playing the trumpet. Leo made an appearance as an extra in the movie North & South. He lives in Pascagoula, MS with his wife DeAnne. The couple are proud parents of ten children.

Cdr. William Harbison - David Slatten


David Slatten will be making his 11th appearance at Center Stage during South Pacific. Credits to his name include: Bleacher Bums, Rev. David in The Foreigner, The Balcony Scene, Shakespeare in Hollywood, Leading Ladies, George Haverstick in Period of Adjustment, The Late Christopher Bean and, most recently, Arles Struvie in Red White and Tuna. His favorite role to date is David O'Selznick in Moonlight and Magnolias. David holds a Bachelor's degree in business and works for American Medical Response. He appeared as an extra and worked with the stunt department in the movie Jonah Hex. David currently serves on Center Stage's board of directors as Vice President. He lives in Long Beach, MS with his wife Stacey and their five children.

Stewpot - Todd Cockroft


Todd is no stranger to Center Stage, having previously appeared in Oklahoma, You Can't Take It With You, Chicago, The Nerd; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Anything Goes, and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. His other roles include: You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Sordid Lives, Dearly Departed, I Bet Your Life, The Sound of Music, and Sound of the Holidays. Todd lists his favorite role as Fred Casely in Chicago. In addition, Todd has been in two local films: Shriek of the Sasquatch and Songs About Your Girlfriend. Todd owns Emerson Aviation in Moss Point, MS. He enjoys flying and riding his hog! Todd lives in Ocean Springs, MS.

Nurse Ensemble

Denise Baumann


Denise is returning to the stage since her last role in It's A Wonderful Life at GLT in 2005. Denise Baumann is a well-known makeup artist of the Gulf Coast. She has been keeping busy with doing makeup artisty and styling for Beau Rivage Entertainment, The MS Coast Coliseum, TV specials , ESPN Sports in New Orleans, fashion shows and photoshoots with local photographers. Not to mention, in her free time, Denise is a Karaoke connoisseur. Denise couldn't be happer to be back on the stage with such an amazing director, team, cast and crew!

Jaimee Goad


Jaimee will be taking the stage for the first time this July. She holds a Bachelor's degree in broadcast news from the University of Georgia. Currently she works as a web designer and runs jaimeedesigns.com. She enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, going to the gym and hanging out with her family and friends. Jaimee has a 4-yr-old son, Micah. She resides in Moss Point, MS..

Amanda Brown


Amanda comes to us from Parkersburg, WV and is another Center Stage newcomer but has been in roles such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Rumors, and Anybody for Murder. Her favorite role is Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion. Amanda is a theatre teacher at Gautier High School. She enjoys dancing and reading and lives with her husband and two dogs in Biloxi, MS.

Amy Caldwell


Amy has appeared several times at Center Stage, most notably as Samantha Hardy in the Boogie Woogie Christmas Show and as Lucy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, her favorite. Amy has also performed as Sister Robert Anne in Nonsense, Peggy Day in The Women, and Mabel Washington in Fame. She works as a Data Manager Specialist for FEMA and enjoys scrapbooking and quilting. She lives in Gulfport, MS with her husband Joel and two sons, Haston and Matthew.

Ashley Fountain

Ashley is a newcomer to Center Stage but has appeared on stage before as: Guard in Chipolino, star-to-be in Annie, Jr., Thomas O'Malley in Aristocrats, Baloo/Toucan in Jungle Book, and Princess Bas in Jolly Mon. Her favorite role to date is Silly Girl in Beauty and the Beast. Ashley was a participant and guest performer in the 2010 Phenomenal People talent search and she received two high gold medals at the 2011 Access Broadway Competition. Ashley lives in Biloxi, MS with her parents Albert and Denise Fountain.

Maureen Flynn


South Pacific is Maureen’s second performance at Center Stage. Some may recall her first role as the roller skating, Tastee Bite carhop from Leading Ladies. When she’s not skating around town or dancing on an island of the south pacific, Maureen enjoys spending time with her husband or playing with her baby niece. This Gulf Coast transplant has worked for American Medical Response for almost 9 years and has held a spot on the Center Stage Board of Directors for 2 years.

Meghan Moger


Meghan Moger is a senior at Long Beach High School where she is part of the varsity cheerleading squad which have earned back-to-back state titles. She is also very active in her school's theatre program where she played her favorite role as Rizzo in Grease. Some of her other roles include Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Abigail Williams in The Crucible, Maria in Lend Me a Tenor, Miss Strict in Zombie Prom and Anybodys in West Side Story. Meghan also enjoyed being in her first Center Stage show last summer, Drowsy Chaperone. She plans on attending MSU and majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in theatre.

Jacalyn Shealey


Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, Jacalyn is new to Center Stage but has appeared previously as Gina in Flowers for Algernon. She holds a Bachelor's of Science from East Carolina University and currently works as a family protection worker for Harrison County Department of Human Services. She loves to dance, sing, act and write. Her other hobbies include: sewing, crochet and other "lost" skills. She says that "passing these skills to my daughter gives me great joy". She lives in Biloxi, MS with her husband and three children.

Rebecca Smith


Rebecca is coming back for her third show at Center Stage having most recently appeared as Ada Haggett in The Late Christopher Bean, which is her favorite role. She also appeared as Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone in the summer of 2010. Other roles include: Penny Loring in Never Mind What Happened, How Did it End?, and Mary Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life. Rebecca presently works as a choir director and organist. She recently graduated with an Associate's degree in music and aspires to be a choral director and music teacher. She enjoys music, theatre, dance, and piano. Rebecca lives in Pascagoula, MS with her mother and five wonderful siblings.

Brandy Stubbs


Calling Roseburg, OR her hometown, Brandy will be appearing in her first Center Stage production. Her previous roles include Sarah in Guys & Dolls, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Kate in Pirates of Penzance. She lists her favorite role as Nellie Forbush in South Pacific but says her dream role is Belle in Beauty & the Beast. She is currenlty a student at William Carey University studying for her Bachelor's in music. She enjoys singing Italian opera, cooking, zumba, church, Mexican food and datenight with her true love, David. Brandy and her husband live with their cat, Gus-Gus, in Gulfport, MS.

Wade Hymel


Wade is excited to be appearing in his first Center Stage production. He is the father of Kelsey Hymel who is playing Bloody Mary's assistant. He holds a Bacherlor's degree in Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi and is currently a math teacher. He lives with his family in Biloxi, MS.

Michael McKinney


Michael once graced our stage as an Aggie in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and is happy to be back this year in South Pacific. He has also played the Colonel in No Time for Sergeants. Michael has a Bachelor's degree in English from Millsaps College and currently works as an English teacher. He lives in Gulfport, MS.


Jacob Paige


This will be Jacob's first appearance at Center Stage. He calls himself a Navy brat whose traveled all over the United States. He enjoys cooking, video games, theatre, tennis, paintball, and swimming. He lives with his family in Biloxi, MS.

John "White Chocolate" Palermo


John will be making his debut at Center Stage during South Pacific. He lists his previous theatre experience as Zeke in It's Cold in Them Thar Hills. John enjoys dancing, singing, martial arts, sports , chess and pool. Recently, John made it to the top 40 of 500 dancers in the Atlanta auditions of So You Think You Can Dance. He has an Associate's degree in Spanish Translation and lives in Biloxi, MS.

Daniel Schatzman


This will be Daniel's first Center Stage production. Previous roles include: Fred/Young Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, Dewey Maples in The Diviners, and Dancer in Student Directed One Acts. He is currently in college and works at Strami's Italian Cafe. He enjoys sports, working out, and dancing. He lives with his family in D'Iberville, MS.

Shaninun Pittman


Shaninun will be making his acting debut in South Pacific but is no stranger to the arts. He has studied classical ballet for over 30 years and has performed with professional companies throughout North America and Europe. His recent focus has been creating original, interdisciplinary dance theatre reflective of contemporary life in the American South. He currently works as a ghostwriter and social critic and enjoys reading/writing, dancing and jogging. He's from Columbia, MS but currently lives in Gulfport.

Tim Sevilla


South Pacific will be Tim's first stage performance. He works in retail sales and enjoys gaming and reading. Tim also likes to play the Oboe, English Horn and Trumpet. He lives in Gautier, MS.
